Dictionary (fully photocopiable) in two formats - large (A4 sheets) and small (to make A5 booklets), teachers’ notes.
This is a dictionary containing over 460 musical words and terms associated with all aspects of music - from Plainsong to Punk Rock, from Medieval to MIDI, from Amati to Avant Garde. It is PHOTOCOPIABLE, enabling teachers to easily duplicate the dictionary in booklet form.
The dictionary is for WRITING IN! By the side of each definition, there is space for the student to: a) write the date on which the word or term was studied; and b) tick a box when the student is sure that he/she has UNDERSTOOD the meaning of that entry. This makes this dictionary a valuable revision aid to GCSE, Standard Grade or “A” level students.
There is also space for the pupil to write in any EXTRA TERMS or words they have encountered during their course.
USING THE DICTIONARY IN THE CLASSROOM......... Teachers issue a copy to each student towards the beginning of their course and refer to it regularly. The teacher may wish to set homework based on the dictionary, and, periodically, the teacher may wish to set “tests” of the pupils’ knowledge of certain words. The fact that each term in the dictionary is numbered (eg. word no. A10 is “Acoustics”) may help the teacher in devising suitable revision exercises.
