Imagine a set of 2 CD s filled with short extracts of music, which is designed to be played to a class. The voice gives clear instructions, encouraging the class to respond to each extract.
This is definitely for the music teacher who cannot afford vast amounts of time to prepare, but who would like their pupils to have experience at listening and responding to lots of varied pieces of music. There are two CDs filled with over 90 minutes of musical extracts.
Examples of tasks - they might be asked to to identify different timbres, say how many beats in a bar, or write down a word to describe the expression of the music.
The extracts are carefully divided into “tests”; each test has five questions; and each group of five tests is called a “module”.
Pupils write down their responses onto photocopiable sheets, which are easily duplicated by the teacher. Everything is explained fully as the CD progresses, so it’s like having a set of complete lessons on CD!
