Compose Yourself! sample page
In the UK, the Music National Curriculum is based around Composing, Performing,  and Listening and Appraising.

And Composing forms a major part of the GCSE and Standard grade (Scotland) examinations.

We offer original and practical help to teachers whose job it is to instruct and inspire pupils to compose music in different styles and genres.

Our latest publication is:

Composers’ Workshop Volume 1
...which features composer Jon Raybould giving a running commentary as he composes three original pieces. Your pupils see and hear how it’s done!

Our highly popular scheme
Compose Yourself! Opus 1
is a course for teaching composing in the classroom situation. It comes complete with two CDs containing spoken instruction on various aspects of composing and it is crammed with music extracts which illustrate the spoken points.

It’s a very useful aid for teachers who are presented with the problem of how to teach composing to whole classes.

And then there’s
Composing Crazy! Books 1 and 2
(two composing courses designed to teach the basics of chord-based composing skills using electronic keyboards)...

..and  finally,
We Love Composing! Book 1
Is a useful photocopiable resource containing some excellent composing projects.
