Book 1 has 20 worksheets - How to play chords on keyboards, firstly in triad position, then in basic accompaniment styles. Pupils are shown how to improvise tunes to “fit” chord sequences, firstly by using the notes of each triad, then adding passing notes. Pupils gain “credits” for completing tasks.
Book 2 has 50 worksheets, and pupils are encouraged to develop their creativity by playing chords in various chord styles and extending their improvisations. Pupils follow tips and advice from the “Mad Music Professor” for more successful melodies. The book shows how to make up a complete piece in stages, then pupils are encouraged to compose their own pieces in the same way. A CD is included with 5 “backings” of pieces printed in the book. Pupils improvise their own melodies along to the backing tracks.
